Steve
Hoggart has been a professional musician/educator, for over the past 20 years
working as both a musician and as a technician. His work has taken him all
over Europe touring and He has contributed to projects for major corporations
from Saatchi and Saatchi, The Milk Marketing Board, Kirby Cleaners to Live
Aid and artists as diverse as Sister Sledge, GWAR, Richard Grainger and Gill
Scott Heron. He is currently lecturing in music technology (Recording Skills,
Acoustics, Digital Audio, Sequencing, Introduction to Music Technology, DJ
Technology and Production Techniques) for Middlesbrough College as course
coordinator for there level 2 music technology courses, His is also the Arts
Sport and Technologies representative on the college Health and Safety committee.
Other work includes Moderator for Neocn awarding body and an examiner for
EDEXCEL music technology.

His first Instrument is the Bass Guitar, over the years virtually every combination
of bass has passed through his hands from 4, 5, 6, 7 string fretted and fretless.
Piccolo and midi bass to behemoths such as 8 string (all separate Strings
tuned F# B E A D G C F) and 5 string upright. He has always dabbled playing
guitar but after a serious accident in 2002 he took up the guitar in a more
serious manner. The accident Steve had was he slipped over and shattered his
left wrist and severed his right ulna nerve (100%) the triceps and also the
ulna artery. This put an end to his upright playing. In fact both surgeons
who operated on Steve gave him very little hope of being able to play again!
As you may have noticed from the gigs on the front page Steve is gigging again.
He is just getting full use of his little and ring finger on his right hand.
You can’t keep a good bass player down!!
